Dr. Ben Schultz, WCVM 2010
Ben and his wife Jasmin moved to the Stettler area after Ben graduated from the Western College of Veterinary Medicine in 2010. They have two daughters, Victoria and Elise; and a very loyal and friendly German Shepherd named Pete
Dr. Schultz was born in Yorkton SK, and grew up in the small town of Landmark, MB. Before attending veterinary college, he studied animal science at the University of Manitoba. He spent his first year practicing in Stettler, and then founded Maverick Large Animal Veterinary Service in Erskine, AB.
Dr. Colin Nicholas, UCVM 2018
Born and raised in Calgary, Colin developed a passion for cattle work when preparing his application for vet school. He quickly found that he loved being on farm much more than in an office doing paperwork. He completed his Zoology degree in 2014 and graduated with his Veterinary degree from the University of Calgary in 2018. Special interests include surgery, both cattle and horses, and necropsies. Family is close to his heart so in his free time you will often find him snowboarding in the mountains with his dad and brother. He has one dog who you will occasionally see wandering the clinic looking for belly rubs.
Robin Schade, RVT & Office Manager
Raised in rural north east Alberta, Robin’s interest in animals started early. She graduated from the Animal Health Technology program at N.A.I.T. in spring of 2007. Robin received the Alberta Association of Animal Health Technologists Graduating AHT of the Year that following fall. Her work as an AHT has led her to be employed with the SPCA, an equine veterinary clinic and a mixed animal clinic before starting with Maverick in 2012. These days Robin divides her time managing Maverick, Uncas Veterinary Clinic and Momentum Equine. Outside of work she would spend all summer riding, camping and fishing. Robin likes to take at least one destination off her travel bucket list a year as well as taking time off to do some community volunteer work. She currently has two dogs, Quinn and Piper, and a bunch of horses.
Lindsay Monk, Client Care Representative
Originally from Medicine Hat, Lindsay now lives north of Stettler on an acreage with her husband Dallas and their 2 daughters, Morleigh and Lainey. Lindsay works part time with us here at Maverick as our wonderful receptionist, an integral role in our practice. You will usually find her smiling face at our front desk or answering your phone call. Outside of work Lindsay enjoys barrel racing, ranching and spending time with her family.
Chantal Maurer, RVT
Born and raised in rural southeast Saskatchewan, Chantal comes from a farming background. Her interest in cattle began at a young age and she has loved horses ever since she was born, which makes Maverick a good fit for her. She graduated from Lakeland College in Vermilion, Alberta in 2013 and has been with the team since April of 2015. She took a brief break to go back home to be closer to family but after not quite a year she decided that she missed the Maverick team and Alberta is where she should be. We happily welcomed her back at the end of September in 2017. She still enjoys going back to Saskatchewan to help her family with harvest but Alberta has now become her home. You can often find her riding at the arena in town or enjoying the mountain views during the warmer months with her dog Rambo by her side. She also has her main mount, a gelding named W, as well as a project colt or two on the go.
Ashley Keith, RVT
Born and raised on a ranch just north of Byemoor Alberta, Ashley now lives southeast of Big Valley with her family and two dogs, Penny and Snoop. She joined the Maverick team in May of 2017 as a student and returned to work here after she graduated from Olds College in 2018. After retiring from her career as a Junior Female Hockey player, she now spends her time outside of work riding her horses or helping her family out on the ranch.
